The shocking news about the universe shocked the scientists, so far no one knew that there were so many galaxies!
PARIS – The universe has about 2000 billion galaxies, that is “ten times more” than previously thought, astronomers estimate in a study published on Thursday.
Astronomers previously thought that the universe has between 100 and 200 billion galaxies.
The team of Professor Christopher Conselicea the University of Nottingham, in the UK, has long worked on data obtained using telescopes Hubli which are constructed by NASA and the European Space Agency, and other telescopes.
Then they carefully created 3D images and a method of extrapolation reached the number of galaxies in different periods of history of the universe. And they came to the conclusion that there are so many Galaxies.
What are galaxies away, their light weight reaches us.
The existing telescopes can be seen only 10 percent of galaxies.
“It is difficult to understand that the universe we still have to investigate 90 per cent of galaxies,” said Christopher Conselice. “Who knows what we’ll find when we are able to study thanks to a new generation of telescopes?” He asked in a statement after his research appeared in the Astrophysical Journal.
Astronomers using the new mathematical models closed as the “invisible” galaxies that are beyond the reach of the telescope.
“This work will be confirmed only when we have huge telescopes help us much better to see this remote area,” said Francois Hammer, an astronomer at the Paris Observatory and an expert on the formation of galaxies.
European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile just built a giant European telescope E-ELT (European Extremely Large Telescope) which will be the primary mirror diameter of 39 meters.
